Cancer Patient Services which may be available in Ontario, Canada from or through the Canadian Cancer Society

The Patient Services Program ensures the needs of people with cancer and their families are met, either through direct program delivery or by contact with the appropriate resource.

  • SUPPORT:
Assistance in coping with diagnosis and treatment:
  • CanSurmount - One-to-one visits to patients and family members by volunteers whose lives have been touched by cancer.
  • Reach to Recovery - One-to-one visits between patients and volunteers whose lives have been touched by breast cancer
  • Friendly Visitors - Volunteers offer friendship and support to cancer patients, in hospitals or at home.
  • Living with Cancer Groups - Self-help groups, led by trained volunteers, for people affected by cancer
  • Living with Cancer Education - A series of educational seminars to help cancer patients and their families live more effectively with cancer.
  • Clinic & Lodge Services - Volunteers offer comfort and support to patients and their families in cancer clinics and lodges

  • SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICES
  • The following services may be provided by the Society for patients in financial need:
    • Home Support
  • Medical Equipment Rental
  • Patient's Companion
  • TRANSPORTATION
    • Volunteer drivers for patients who require transportation to a cancer treatment centre
  • assistance with the cost of public transportation
