Who is the Tutor?

Charlie Pitrolo: An educator in Fairmont, WV, Charlie has taught in public schools since 1980. He holds a Master's degree in Education Administration from West Virginia University. He has just completed his Master's Degree Specialization in Educational Technology Leadership at Salem-Teikyo University.  The Telecommunications for Educators class(ED443)has recently created a web site under his instruction.  He has also attended Fairmont State College and Alderson-Broaddus College.

Charlie's most recent telecommunications project, E.C.H.O.E.S.,  received funding from the Marion County Professional Staff Development Council and the West Virginia Teachnology educators & Media Specialists.  This endeavor was introduced at the WVTEAMS Spring Conference in Charleston, WV in March of 2000.  This telecommunications project unites students, teachers, school,  and parents.  In August of 1999, E.C.H.O.E.S. was introduced as a pilot in  Charlie's classroom.  The E.C.H.O.E.S. site received over 1,300 hits from prents, students, and others in the piloting phase.

Charlie is Systems Operator at Dunbar Middle School, where he also teaches fifth grade. Troubleshooting computers is a major part of his duties as Sysop. In addition, he presents numerous seminars and inservices to educators statewide.  He was recognized in March of 2000 by the West Virginia Academy of Science for his contributions to science education.  Charlie is also a certified ThinkWave trainer as of January, 2000.

Charlie has worked with the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation, Marion County Schools, and the West Virginia State Department of Education as Teacher Trainer, concentrating his efforts on Internet skills and technology integration into the curriculum. He continually seeks opportunities to upgrade his skills and knowledge through coursework, self-study, and collaboration with other specialists.
