I am decended from Nancy Baker, daughter of Goerge Baker and Nancy Grigsby. Nancy married into the Smith family (John R. son of James) which they considered to be beneath them. They were married in Ohio, and soon moved on to NE, then IA, and later to SD and finally Ca. We know that her parents had three boys and two girls but do not have names for any other than Nancy. Nancy was not totally disenhireted - she did recieve $100.00 from her parents estate so I am hoping that some one will have seen this in a will for a Goerge Baker and we will be able to conect to the rest of the family. snail mail is Marie Cosby-Cobler, P. Can someone help? I have John H. Baker born 1815 KY married to Lucinda (Edwards?) Someone else has him listed as John A. married to Lucinda. Then they have another John N. listed as John H. married to Martha. The strange thing is both men and both women have same birthdates, different children and born different places, live in the same town. I know my John H. is definitely a John H. according to the census and not a John A. and the census shows that the John H. that someone else has is John N. Now this can really confuse some of us. We have also listed the same parents for these two Johns. I confess, I have no proof of the parentage. All I went by was where they were born and the fact that my John H. Baker's son Samuel was living with them. Them being Edward and Sarah Baker. These Bakers were from Lawrence Co., and Sharp Co., Ark. I hope someone can set me straight. I am beginning to think it is the same man with two wives.Barbara
