Seeking info on Lafayette Baker, believed to have been an officer in the Civil War, serving the U.S. Army in TN. Family legend says he was a captain, but no positive proof. He is believed to have been serving on the city police force in Washington, DC, after the war, & is believed to have been “in” on the assassination of Pres. Abraham Lincoln. This legend has been handed down through many years, & has been told as “truth,” but can find no records on this. Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

Charles Baker and Kate Day were my g-gparents. Charles was a farmer, and they lived and died in Parker, Miami County, Kansas. According to the funeral home records they are buried in the "Quaker Cemetery", however a GNIS search does not reveal any cemetery, by that name, in Kansas. This leads me to believe that the name used in the records reflects a local reference to a cemetery with some other official name. Can anyone help me with identifying the "name" of this cemetery? If this is a secular cemetery, would I be incorret in assuming that Charles & Kate were members of the Quaker community? If so, then tat would give me another lead to follow, and I would be thankful for any advice in that regard.John M. Baker
