Traditional jewish music by keyboard, violin and flute accompanied the processional and recessional.
As guests entered the room, they received a program which explained some jewish wedding traditions and offered special thanks to family and friends.
Our bridal party entered the room from a side door and then made their way down the center aisle. All the while, I waited in the bride's changing room at the stop of the stairs wishing that I could watch the processional! At the last minute, I tucked my grandma Molly's hankerchief in my sleeve . . . just in case I started to cry. Finally, I was given my cue and I decended the stairs to meet my mother and father on the landing. Together, the three of us walked down the aisle to the Chuppah.
During our ceremony, I remember that Lee kept his hand on my arm. It seemed to me that Lee, Rabbi Donnell, Cathy, Matt and our parents were the only people in the room. Rabbi Donnell's words were beautiful. The ceremony lasted about 25 minutes.
During the ceremony, Lee started to sweat profusely. He wasn't nervous, just hot in his tuxedo! I could see the beads of sweat dripping off of his face. I pulled out my grandmother's hankerchief and handed it to him. That got a chuckle from the crowd!
After the recessional, Lee and I escaped to the bride's changing room to celebrate with a bottle of chilled champagne and some hors d'oeuvres.
