Subscribe to Hockey...Canadian Style
Why not subscribe to Hockey...Canadian Style? It's free, there's no "real" adds in the letter and it only comes once a week and that's not even every week. Here's the letter I sent out November 29th as a sample to what you can expect to get if you subscribe to Hockey...Canadian Style: November 29th, 1998 Come visit what Hockey…Canadian Style is calling the best quotes site on the web! Hockey Quotes gives you many quotes from NHL GM’s which rarely make the papers. Among them:
"I don’t care if we lose every game for the next 5 years and the team goes broke and moves to Moose Jaw. I will not trade Pavel Bure!"
"I think what we meant to say was that we would trade Potvin before thanksgiving 2000." ------------------------------------------------------------------ Habs Struggling Many people will argue whether Guy Lafleur was right in saying the Habs aren’t working as hard now as during the glory years but you won’t find an argument as to how the team is playing now; awful. The Habs have now lost 7 of their last 8 games and are stuck in last place in the North-East divsion despite overhauling the team in a 6 player deal with Chicago. Jeff Hackett is 0-3 since coming over from the Black Hawks but at least Hackett has been healthy which is more than the rest of the team can say. The NHL’s iron man, Mark Recchi is playing hurt, so is linemate Saku Koivu and winger Brian Savage. Vincent Damphouse is out, so is Benoit Brunet so is Shane Corson. All in all, 6 regulars missed each of the Habs last 2 games, both times they lost thanks to quick collapses. Friday, they blew it in the third period, Saturday in a 4 minute span in the second. In Montreal losing in un-exceptable and rumours have begun right and left; Reggie Houle is gone, Alain Vigneault is gone, Ronald Corey is gone and of course, almost every player has been rumoured to be on the trading block. All of this shows the sad state that the Bleu, Blanc and Rouge now find themselves in. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Some Real Hockey Quotes
"Right away I came and called my parents and apologized."
"Goaltending a normal job? Sure, how would you like it if every time you made a mistake a red light went on over your desk and 15,000 people stood up and yelled at you."
"What happened,was Wayne Gretzky sick?"
"Mathew Barnaby couldn't intimidate my grandmother."
"Will hit Claude Lemieux from behind for food" ----------------------------------------------------------------- I’ve taken down the poll on what all-star format people would most like to see. The majority would appear to like to see Gretzky-Lindros-Fedorov line up against Domi-Grimson-Barnaby. Here’s the results.
What All-star game format would you most like to see? North America v.s. the World (5) 18% Canada v.s. the World (5) 18% Eastern Conference v.s. Western Conference (5) 18% Jamaica v.s. Mexico (1) 4% Goons v.s. Millionaires (12) 43% ------------------------------------------------------------------ Team Notes: Montreal: As the Habs continue to struggle, a major overhaul is imminent. If things don’t change, expect Reggie Houle to get the axe and maybe Ronald Corey too. Houle hasn’t made one good trade since coming to Montreal so it looks like his days are numbered. Ottawa: The Senators got a steal when they sent Stan Necker to the Rangers for Bill Berg and a second round pick. A second round pick is a lot for a guy like Necker who is around no.8 or 9 on the Ottawa depth chart. Toronto: The Leafs are still first in the east, which means they probably won’t have to deal Potvin until the right deal comes along. The Leafs are hopping Jeff Hackett bombs in Montreal so they can move in for the kill. Calgary: Although Fleury’s rumoured to be on the block, he probably won’t be dealt until the deadline unless the Sharks are seriously offering Brad Stuart in return. Edmonton: Doug Weight is hoping for an early January come-back which would put him 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. Vancouver: Despite what Brian Burke says, Bure will be dealt soon, and he won’t get nearly enough in return. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Other great sites of mine: Save the Expos: If your a fan of a small market Canadian NHL team, you can imagine what it’d be like to loose your team. Well the Montreal Expos are in danger of moving and you can help save them. Just visit the site and send a sample letter or your own to a politician. There’s also news on the Expos stadium bid there so check it out!
