Limit Breaks
How Limit Breaks Work, How to Gain new ones, And where the 4th Limit break is located
character has 3 levels of limit breaks, each with 2 breaks. Each player
starts with their level 1 1st break. To get the level 1 2nd break you must
use the level 1 1st break 8 times.
To
get the level 2 1st break you have to kill 80 enemies. IT DOES NOT MATTER
WHETHER OR NOT YOU'VE LEARNED OR EVEN USED YOUR LEVEL 1 2ND BREAK!!!! This
is what screws people up, it is possible to get the level 2 1st break without
having learned the level 1 2nd, but to use the character's level 4 manual
you have to have learned every break. If you're having trouble using a
character's level 4 manual go back and check to see that you've learned
BOTH limit breaks for all 3 levels--if one is missing you have to set your
limit break back to that level and learn it.
To
register a kill the character has to be the one to deliver the blow that
kills the enemy. For example, if it's Cloud's hit that causes the enemy
to die then, even if the other characters had caused damage to the creature
first, Cloud will be the one who gets the kill. It does not matter how
you kill the enemy, limit breaks, spells, summons, or good old physical
violence.
To
get the level 2 2nd break you have to use the level 2 1st break 8 times.
To
get the level 3 1st break you have to have killed 80 enemies since gaining
the level 2 1st break--again it doesn't matter if you've even learned the
level 2 2nd break.
To
get the level 3 2nd break you need to use the level 3 1st break 8 times.
Once
you've learned your level 3 2nd break (and all others before it) you can
go to your item list and use the character's level 4 manual on him or her--you
do not have to ever have used the level 3 2nd break--I've never used any
of mine.
Here are some examples
Vincent: only
has one break per level--he starts with level 1, to get to level 2 Vincent
has to kill 60 enemies, to get to level 3 he has to kill another 60--as
soon as he gets to level 3 you can use his level 4 manual.
Cait Sith:only
has two limit levels--he begins with level one and he needs to kill 80
enemies to get to level 2.
