Final Fantasy ect. ect. ect. . .

Okay people. I like video games. I'm not ashamed of it. My boyfriend Carl thinks it's cute. Final Fantasy games are my favorites. Right now I'm playing FF5, from Final Fantasy Anthology, which is on the Playstation. My personal favorite is FF2, or FF4 in Japan. That game is just the bomb.

For now I only give synopsis of FF5, and a few links for it. It's what's occupying my attention at the moment.

Prologue:
Dreams fill the land with hope,
Courage ignites flames,
Water is the source of sympathy,
Investigation carries intelligence in the Wind,
If people possess the four wills, light can arise.

It said that in the little book that came with the came. I thought it sounded kinda nice.
Anyway, Your goal is the keep the 4 crystals from exploding. Well guess what. You fail miserably. New mission: Stop Ex-Death. So, get your ass in gear, and get to it. To help you on your way, I give you these websites:
FF5 That's the site's very simple, dierct title. Take a look, it's not terrible.
Fog of Deception This site is pretty good, but it has some HTML errors that make it a little annoying. More content then the one listed above.

Check out this kick ass disclaimer I found!

Warning:Read before using your PlayStation Game Console
A very small percentage of individuals may experience epileptic seizures when exposed to certain light patterns or flashing lights. Exposure to certain patterns or backgrounds on a television screen or while playing video games, including games played on the PlayStation game console, may induce an epileptic seizure in these individuals. Certain conditions may induce previously undetected syptoms even in persons who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy. If you, or anyone in your family, has an epileptic condition, consult your physician prior to playing. If you experience any of the following symptoms while playing a video game - dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness, disorientation, any involuntary movement, or convulsions - IMMEDIATLY(I love the way the emphasive that!) discontinue use and consult your physician before resuming play.

Why do I find that boring disclaimer so interesting? I have epilepsy, and I haven't had a problem with video games. They've really only been very loosely linked with seizures; you have nothing to fear. They only cause seizures if you've already got the evil epilepsy lurking in your brain. They are more like a catalyst, rather then a cause.

Anyway, unless you've never seen the FFAnthology, you'd have figured out that the pictures on the left are from FF6, not FF5. Why? Well, they're just so spiffy, and I really prefer FF6 to FF5. They are, from top to bottom, Terra, Edgar, Celes, Sabin, Locke, Setzer, Shadow. Now that that's covered, I'll go into my indepth, or not-so-indepth coverage of FF6.

The story starts out following an enslaved young woman that, to all appearances, isn't very scary, yet her companions in awe and a little frightened of her. It seems that she possesses a lost skill called Magic. Recently, people have been infused with a substance that imbues them with this frightening ability, but she has been born with it, making her an anomaly to be feared by all. She and her two companions have been sent to retrieve a frozen esper from the snowy hills of Narshe. It is the only one in existance, frozen in a trench for 1000 years, since the War of the Magi. Is it coincidence that Magic and Espers dissapeared at approximently the same time?

And so our story begin. I'm not giving away what happens, because this game kicks ass, and it would ruin it for the poor, pathetic souls who have yet to play it.

Soul Caliber/Soul Blade

First all of, Soul Blade. It's a 3D weapons fighting game that takes place in the 15th century. The characters in the game are all vying for the legendary Soul Edge, some to destroy it, (like Sophitia) and some to use it to defend their country (Seung Mina) or for personal gain (Mitsurugi). My personal favorite is Taki, who searches for the evil blade because she thinks it has something to do with her blade becoming possessed. The images to the right (underneath the FF6 ones) are from Soul Blade, and they are, from the top, Taki, Sigfried, Sophitia and Seung Mina. Now for Soul Caliber. It is undeniably the very best game on the DreamCast system, arguably the best fighting game ever. The graphics in it are simply AMAZING. Very beautiful, very smooth, and the attention to detail is immepeccable. It's basically the sequal to Soul Blade, but I'm not exactly sure what the storyline is. I know that Sigfried is the one who possesses the the Soul Edge now, and it's turned him into a demonic being known as Nightmare in the game. The characters are very well rounded, with their own personalities (Mitsurugi is a cocky son of a bitch!), and fighting styles. With the exception of Xiangiua. She copies Hwangs style of fighting. Even the weapons are very induvidualistic. Taki has her ninja-tou, Sophie her short sword, Ivy her sword-whip thing, and Siggy his huge claymore. It's a very addicting game. I play it with Carl a lot at his house, (he beats me 66% of the time) and it seems like everyone loves the game. Even Geena, who's really not into video games, loves it. She borrowed Soul Blade from me, and when my brother made her give it back, she borrowed her boyfriend's. She's really not too bad. I'm a little better then her, but she kicks my ass nearly half the time. She plays with Sophitia mostly, and Carl plays with Sigfreid.

As I said before, Taki is my favorite character. She's a demon hunter/ninja from Japan. Her attacks are very spiffy. My personal favorites are when she grabs someone, twists them around, and stabs them in the neck, when she knees someone, and when they bend over in pain she jumps on their backs, and this trippy thing where she rolls towards the enemy, shoots up in the air, knocking them over, and dives towards them to stab them with her sword. It's success rate is kind of iffy though, and I've launched myself off the edge of the platform many a time.
