Ladies and Chivalry

"I Am Half Sick Of Shadows Said the Lady of Shallott"
by James William Waterhouse

Within the Heart of the
Medieval/Renaissance Enthusiast,
there exists a special,
almost sacred bond
between the Ladies and the Chivalry.

The idea of Courtly Love is at the heart of this bond.
There is an unspoken promise of Courtesy and Kindness
 and Love,
Honor and Valour and Protection.
In each of these paintings, the artist has captured the
sense of longing that the maidens feel for their love,
the sense of Awe and gratitude the knights feel for
their fair one.
Unto all ladies, the True Chivalric Knight gives respect
 and honor.
Unto all Chivalry, the True Lady does likewise.

This is called "Chivalry" by Sir Frank Bernard Dicksee

"Fair Rosamund" also by James William Waterhouse
(Don't you just Love his work!)

"The Knight's Farewell" by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones

Zephyr sweet, meet me
And my love, kissing under
Fragrant springtime boughs.
