Tiles

The game of tiles in the gaming hall is basically a hybrid of Poker with a few differences.  First thing you need to do is go into the gaming room where the tiles are being played and SIT at the TABLE, you may need to wait for a game in progress to end and only 5 people can be at any one table at the same time.  When prompted by the dealer you will want to BET <number> where the number is divisible by 3... this is your bet on the hand of tiles you are about to play.

After all the bets are in, the dealer will pass you three tiles.  To see them you want to type LOOK <your name> TILES.  After the three tiles are dealt to everyone at the table, the dealer will ask each player whether they want to pull in a part of their wager or let the entire thing ride.  So if your tiles really stink you would want to PULL TILE and the dealer will give you back 1/3 of your bet.  If you think you have a good chance of winning, or you're just a gambler at heart then TAP TILE and your bet will ride.

The dealer will then deal out another card called a house tile.  This tile will be dealt into the center of the table and it is added to all the hands of the players at that table.  Again after this he will ask if you want to let your bet ride or pull back another third of it.  To look at the house tiles you can type LOOK HOUSE TILE  After this he will deal the fifth and final tile, another house tile, then check everyone's hands and collect or give out dinar as appropriate.

The deck of tiles is a bit different from your normal deck of Bicycle cards.  There are four colors (blue, red, green, and yellow) and this makes pulling off a flush a bit tougher.  The face cards are as follows:
Joxer = Jack
Xena = Queen
Hercules = King
Zeus = Ace

Ok, so you're asking... how do I win?  Here are the different winning hands and how much they pay off.
High Pair - This is a pair of tiles numbered 10 or higher and pays out your bet 1 to 1.
Two Pair - This is two pair of any tiles, face or number tiles.  This pays out 2 to 1.
Three of a Kind - This is three of any of the same tile, faces or numbers, and pays out 3 to 1.
Straight - A straight is a sequence of numbers or face cards in order (ie 7, 8, 9, 10, Joxer).  This pays out 5 to 1.
Full Temple - This is three of a kind and a pair in one hand and pays out 11 to 1.
Four of a Kind - Like it says, this is four of any of the same tile, faces or numbers, and pays out 50 to 1.
Straight Flush - This is a straight and flush mixed together... cards in a sequence and all the same color.  This pays out at 200 to 1.

What these odds mean are if you bet 30 dinars and get a high pair, then you will get your 30 dinars back plus 30 from the house to equal 60 dinars.  So the same would hold true that if you bet 30 dinars and got a straight flush then you would win a total of 6030 dinars including your original bet.

Eureka

Eureka is basically our Ancient Greek version of Bingo and just like Bingo, you will need to buy a card and a marker to play it.  The cards and markers are available in the Eureka Gaming Hall for 10 dinars a piece and the Hall itself is located just North inside the Gaming Hall in Northwest Athens.  After buying the card and marker (which are yours to keep and reuses as long as you like) you GIVE BING 5 dinars to play the current round.  If they are too far into the current round you will need to wait for it to end to play.

Bing is the NPC Eureka Caller, he's the guy that pulls the numbered balls out of the bag and calls them out.  There are two other NPCs named Velma and Gertrude to offer a little bit of competition for those loners who want to hit up a round of the game.  If you join the round after it has begun, or need to look at what numbers have already been called for some reason, you can LOOK BEHIND BING to see what numbers have already been called.

Ok, now onto game play.  The basics of the game are, Bing calls out a letter and number combination and you look at your card to see if you have it.  If you have the number then you MARK <number>, there is no need to use the letter when doing this.  So if he says K32, you MARK 32 while holding your board and marker and it will be marked.  Looking at your board will show you which numbers have been marked.  If you make a mistake you can UNMARK <number> and you can RUB BOARD to completely clear it.  The middle is marked FREE and it is just that, no need to mark it because it is a given.  You can play as many boards as you want if you think you're fast enough.  When you have the winning numbers marked on your board you need to yell, "EUREKA!" and Bing will stop the game to certify your winning card and pay off accordingly.

There are several different versions of the game you can play and after each round Bing will ask the crowd which they want.  First he will ask if you want this to be a normal, special, or jackpot game.  If enough people SAY or YELL the same game type, Bing will run that game.  A normal game means you just need to get a straight line either horizontally, diagonal, or vertical on your card to win and you get 10 dinars if you do first.  In a jackpot game you must fill your entire card within the number of calls Bing specifies.  If you don't get your card filled by the time specified then you win 25 dinars and the jacpot goes up a certain amount for the next jackpot game.  As with all games, if there are two or more winners then the prize money is divided between them.

If you call for a special game then Bing will ask which special game you want to play.  Again you SAY or YELL the game you'd like to play and Bing will do that game by whatever the majority of votes are.  You can LOOK SAMPLE in the Eureka room to see what you need your card to look like to win.  The winner of this game gets 20 dinars and without further ado, the four special games are Little Hercules, The Flag, The Letter Chi, and The Trident and to win your card needs to look like the following:
