Chapter One

Nicole stepped out of the bathroom stall and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She tucked in her white under shirt into her black jeans and buttoned up her royal blue, long sleeved shirt, and just left two buttons un buttoned to reveal her white tee that was under it. After tucking in her shirt, she brushed her hair and let it fall. She looked at her brown hair going a little past her shoulders. She decided to put it in a pony tail and complete it with a royal blue ribbon. Once she was done, she leaned up against the sink.

"Look at me," she said to the reflection.

Her mother owned the most popular teen hangout in Tulsa. And on the last day of school, for most of Tulsa, two waitresses quit. So instead of hanging out with all of her friends on this last day of being a freshman, she had to work.

"COME ON NICOLE PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO ARRIVE!!!!" yelled Nancy, Nicole's mom, as she entered the bathroom.

Nicole tied on her apron around her waist and quickly ran out.

After an hour of running back and forth satisfying all the customers, six more teenagers walked in.

Nicole noticed this and ran toward the door and grabbed the menus, "Welcome to Garfields how many??"

"Nicole?? Hey buddy!! You're working??" asked a medium blond hair boy, while putting his arm around her shoulders.

"Zac?? Oh hey guys," she finally realized who it was. Three of the guys were brothers, and the three of the other boys were just friends of theirs. "Six?? Yeah, follow me, two waitresses quit earlier this morning so me and Brittnee had to work today," she stopped at a booth and set all six menus down. "I'll be right back," with that, she ran back to the kitchen.

"Boy they're busy," said Micheal, a friend of the brothers.

"You got that right," said the oldest of the three brothers.

After setting the plates down at a table right next to the six, she pulled out her order pad and asked what they wanted to drink.

"Dont even say hi," said the middle of three.

She looked up, "Oh hey Taylor. Sorry, as you can see it's like a zoo here," she said motioning to all the comotion.

He smiled, "I know I'm just picking,"

"Ok now again, what would you like to drink??"

"Dr. Pepper," Zac piped up.

"Same," chimed Isaac and Taylor.

She looked over at Micheal and the two other guys, Dustin and Scotty.

"Sprite," both Dustin and Micheal informed.

"A um..." Scotty looked at the menu. "Root beer,"

"Three dr. Peppers, two sprites, and one root beer," confirmed Nicole. "Ok coming right up."

After all the guys finished their lunch they decided to leave.

"Go ahead, I'm gonna walk Nicole home. And don't worry I'll pay the check," offered Ike.

"Ok, cool. We're gonna go say 'bye' and we'll see you at home," said Taylor, as they slid out of the booth.

Ike watched and saw Nicole coming towards his table, stopping for a brief second to say 'goodbye' to the five teenage guys. She came to the table, slammed the ticket down and took a seat infront of Ike.

Isaac looked at her and laughed.

"What??"

"Nothing," he just looked at her. He saw the loose strands of hair come out of her pony tail and cling to the beads of sweat that was rolling down the side of her face, and watched as she took a towel to clean it off. "When does your shift end??"

Nicole looked at her watch. She read 4:45, "At five. I don't have to work a full shift today,"

"Oh ok. I'm gonna find something to do in the arcade. When your shift ends I'll walk ya home, ok?"

She smiled, "Ok. UGH!! More customers I'll see ya in a little while,"
