Chapter Thirteen

"Taylor," whined Lindsey. "This isn't fair! I don't wanna play anymore," Lindsey threw down the control to the Playstation and got up.

"Hey, what are you doing??" asked Taylor, looking up at Lindsey.

"You're no fun. You've played this game millions of times you know all the little tricks,"

Taylor smiled, "You know what?? You're right,"

"UGH!!" she took Taylor's pillow and threw it in his direction.

Once Taylor got hit with the pillow the door flew open and Zac came in, and before Zac closed the door Walker yelled, "And don't come out til it's dinner time,"

He pulled out his trundle bed and without saying a word barried his head in his pillows.

"Zackie, what's wrong??" asked Lindsey, talking like she would be talking to Zoe.

"SHUT UP!!" yelled Zac.

"Come on Lindsey, let's go see if Ike's back," said Taylor wrapping his arm around Lindsey's shoulders. Once Lindsey was out the door Taylor stuck his head back in. "You're a little brat you know that??" with that he slammed the door.

"Hey Ike you're back," said Taylor, walking into the living room. Ike had his elbows resting on his knees and his head in his hands. "Ike what's wrong??" he looked at Lindsey. "Hey, now's not a very good time to be around here. I'll call you ok??"

She nodded, walked over and gave Taylor a quick kiss and left.

After she left Taylor turned his attention back to his brother. "Ike??"

"Josh hasn't changed," was all he said.

"What do you mean??"

Isaac looked up. "You know what I mean, Taylor. He's back and he is worse,"

Taylor's eyes widened and he covered his mouth. "You mean..."

"Yes," Isaac stood up and stretched. "Well I really don't have anything to worry about. Nicole has been sober for a year, as long as he doesn't pressure her into doing anything, nothing bad's gonna happen,"

******

"Hey, guess what!" Nicole said while jumping on the couch next to Josh.

"What??"

"Dustin's having a party tonight and he said since you're here for the summer we should go,"

Josh was pretty well known around Tulsa. Even though he lived in Texas, he came to visit almost every summer.

"Great!" said Josh, with a smile. Josh stood up and started to walk out the front door. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and took one out. He turned to Nicole who had walked out with him, "Want one?"

"Nah,"

"You didn't quit did you??" he asked lighting up the cigarette.

Nicole looked up from the swing she was sitting on, "Uh...no...no why would I??" she asked, lieing through her teeth.

"I was just wondering," Josh looked at his watch. "What time does the party start??"

"Um..7, I think," said Nicole, smoothing out her hair.

"Well we better get going," he said walking down the porch steps.

"Ok, I'm gonna go tell Mom. Be right back,"

As soon as she went in, she came out. "Let's go,"
