Operations (Report by Stephanie)

Operations and Madeline's relationship is a confusing one. Recently it has been made known that the two have a past that is more than professional. At first, Operations was making the advances and Madeline politely rebuffing them. This carried on for quite awhile with Operations becoming  stronger in his attempts to continue the relationship they once had and Madeline being equally strong in her obvious decision not to pursue it. One incident that clarified how much Operations both depends on and cares for Madeline was displayed when Dorian Enquist held Madeline captive as a sort of insurance that he would not be killed and would escape from the watchful eyes of Section. Operations was so desperate to get Madeline back a consequence of one of his orders would have sacrificed Michael for Madeline. When Madeline was retrieved however, her opinion of this action was made clear. It was the wrong choice.

Two other incidents of Operations pursuit have been partially revealed. It is known that on one of these such times, Operations broke one of the rules that Section has abided by in order to allow Madeline to talk to her mother for the first time in many years. The other is when Section was infected with an anthrax variant, a type of bacteria, and Madeline, along with 92% of the operatives, were infected. Once again breaking regulations, Operations broke the segregation barrier on his door in order to reach Madeline when it became known of her infection thus infecting himself. After the antibiotic was administered Madeline implied that the "deadwood" would have to be ridded of Section, maybe in an attempt to clue him into the fact that his actions were wrong.

The other incident was when it became apparent that during a time frame where information from the DOD mainframe was being extracted, both Madeline and Operations were unaccounted for, presumably together. Nothing more is known about this incident.

However, a certain tension has arisen between the two in the amount of time since the last mission detailed that a Charles Sand, confirmed to be Madeline's husband of nine years, was to be killed. In the mission report it is stated that Madeline was the one to kill him and that may be one reason for the stony silence when they are together.

Whatever relationship was opened up again in the past few months is assumed to no longer be active.

Walter

Like Operations, Madeline's relationship with Walter seem to be limited to the briefing table.  However, this changed when Madeline made a hologram of Belinda in an attempted to induce Walter to cooperate in George's investigation.  Walter's erasure of that disc and his visit to Madeline's office (with Operations present) may be his way of giving notice that although they own his life, they do not own his soul.
