Footprints on the Shore

A Song Cycle written & illustrated by

Brenda Gearing

Dedicated to my husband, Cec Gearing, with love.

First few lines

A quivering leaf, star-spangled with dew,
Sends a flickering, beckoning light...

Sometimes I feel that I can fly,
Spreading my joy upon the blue...

All you will see of us here are our footprints---
('We may never pass this way again')...

The moon outshines
the sinking sun
As, with twin shadows
keeping pace,
We hurry home...

Sinuous, curling,
Flashing ahead of the surf unfurling...

Hand in hand,
Fingers entwined, along the sand...
