Brenda Gearing, Hovea Music Press poet and artist

Brenda Gearing was born in a small market town in England and, even after extensive travels in Europe and a wide range of studies and experiences, she remains a 'country girl' at heart.

Brenda obtained a degree in Modern Language and Literature, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, and an Advanced Certificate in Art and Design. In spite of this formal training, her work is predominantly a spontaneous out-pouring of emotion.

A love of the countryside is at the heart of both her poetry and her painting, which gives lyrical expression to the joy of light and colour which became intensified on her arrival in Australia.

Living in the South West of WA Brenda has developed an appreciation of the coastal and forest environments, and an awareness of conservation issues, which she shares with her husband, Cec.
