"THE POETRY CORNER"

Welcome to my "Poetry Corner". This page would not be possible without the help of my best pal Dave and his wonderful poetry. Below are just a few samples of Dave's work. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

"Awakened"

There upon the still shore stood I
Unmoved by the roar of her majestic flow - the river
Just vague in my ears the ticking of my quiet heart
like a cosmic clock left by life in a dark place

Her arms reached up and out
as she crashed against weary rocks
resting in her depths to feel her eternal loving caress.
And she beckoned me to wade into her cool comfort
and find in her what I had long misplaced

Then through her misty spray
a silhouette took shape - a goddess
And within me a thousand emotions stirred
as reborn was the embryo wherein lied
a side of me myself long forgotten

The goddess reached out a tender hand
and a song ignited the air was wind
Pushed through the thick brush surrounding me
I was caught up in that weightless whisper
and carried to her side

Her long flowing white satin swirled around her voluptuous figure
and we sauntered off across the river
Into the open arms of Eternity.

"The Visitor"

Ah, the caverns - the caverns of my soul -
Dark, winding places where bats sleep tranquil in cobwebs.
So silent is their slumber, I dare not wake them.
Move along the edges -
A timeless stream has taken the middle floor
Beneath her dark-night surface.

I fear her touch - fatal to flesh.
Her trickling whispers play an erie symphony
With the spirit that echoes the notes
From his lair beyond the murky swallow of forbidden space.

Softly.....
Softly embrace that spirit
For it can hold your hand and guide you
Through the channels and it can make you fearless.
It can offer you lodgings then show you the way out.
Welcome to come again.

"Lady Winter"

She opens grey sleepy eyes
And stretches her loving arms
Acros the young earth -
Blows a freezing kiss
And green, smiling leaves
Collapse into forlorn brown.
Leaving trees naked skeletons -
Still as tombstones.

The sky hazes into dismal slumber.
Earth's tiny creatures scurry to safety
From her frigid touch.
She fills the air with a wonder
of cold scattered snow dust
drifing down -
drifing down.

She paints all sight
With a sheet of icy fond innocence -
To kiss it a final farewell
Before the new beginning.
The earth and her children wait
In shelters for her solemn departure.
