Falling Awake

I’ve been walking in my sleep,
Else sleeping on as morning breaks,
Only thinking that the dream is over;
Maybe I’ve never been awake.
You came to me in fevered dreams
And stole the fear from memory.
Roused me gently from slumber
And broke the spell that I was under.
I guess that’s how it started,
How you got inside my heart.
Caught off guard and
Wrapped up in the gauze of sleep
I did not expect to fall so fast, so deep
Into you.
