Doctor's Logs

Leonard Horatio McCoy,MD was a brilliant surgeon and a keen observer of the human condition. He was intuitive and kind-hearted to a fault, but had an unstoppable mouth that threw deadly accurate verbal darts. He wanted things to be good and people to be emotionally healthy, yet like that age old saying, "Doctor, heal thyself," for many years he was unable to fix the pain that drove him. He fled Earth and a wife that betrayed him and avoided becoming emotionally involved for years afterwards by finding solace in meaningless sex and the bottle. Life and a desire to be friends with his brilliant but lonely commanding officer forced him to change. He was often the most eloquent spokesman for what went on during those years, and what he lacked in eloquence, he more than compensated with his irreverence. His love for his Captain/best friend, his nemesis/friend/First Officer, and his crewmates, underpinned everything he did and said. We thank-you Bones for your gift of healing.
