PUTTING ON A PERFORMANCE YOURSELF...FAQ
What is it?
It is a musical drama based on the Stations of the
Cross, a mixture of original music and songs and powerful, moving prose
narrative. In general there is a song and prose reflection for each
'Station'. Each scene can be stand on its own with just the reflection
and/or the song, or depending on the resources available, can be augmented
with drama, mime, movement or slides etc.
How long is it?
The full-length version runs about an hour
and a half, but is very flexible and easily edited or adapted. The CD is a
little shorter because some of the drama has been slimmed down for the recording, and for a recent broadcast on BBC
Radio 4 in England the production was very effectively edited down to 35
minutes.
How many people does it take to put on a performance?
We
generally use around 12 people. Ideally, you need a singing role for
Veronica,
Pilate, Simon, Mary the mother of Jesus, Jesus Christ Himself, Mary
Magdalene,
two or three narrators (who of course could double up as singers too) and
a reasonably strong chorus for the songs.
What kind of prose is it?

swords and clubs.

Who is it suitable for?
Everyone. We regularly have young children (5 years old +) in the audience and it is a perfect way to bring our Lord's sacrifice
alive to young people.
Indeed, our youngest ever cast member (chorus, Last Supper sequence) was six years old. However, it is for all ages - 5 to 115.
To proceed, just follow these steps...
1) Get the Music/Reflections Book
2) Get the CD (or cassette if you prefer), and
3) get the production pack - only available directly from CJM Music
The production pack gives you copyright permission, words edition of
the script
(including production masters for you to run off your own scripts),
brief performance notes and order forms for the 'Born for This'
recording and music book
in case anyone in the audience is interested in
purchasing it after having seen the performance.
With a CD and songbook, this makes £55/£130 postage paid anywhere in the world
