A haunting human voice spoke, a voice from a man who was no longer of this universe. As the sounds came, the words filled the screen.

Mission day 11203

Crew wake up time. With the crew awake now we can set to work on the readings. They will be transmitted as soon as we collate them, an umbilical signal to our mother planet.

Jayne is helping to organise the data coherently, Jenkins assures me she's doing a good job but then that old lecher would say anything for young female company. I am a bit wary of putting her with him, but, despite his thoughts and comments, he never acts on them. Something of a godsend in these cramped quarters.

Morale is high. A slight amount of dismay when they found out that Andrew Wilson was found murdered by his illegitimate son to inherit the family business, but then again that's soap operas for you.

Apart from that, news from earth is good, the State is going strong and it appears that China are finally being persuaded to join. A vain hope, but I suppose it's possible.

More relevant matters. We have received a thesis from one of the more exuberant scientists that says Professor Klein, one of my ancestors, was wrong and he can prove it. For the sake of posterity I have inputted very brief summaries of both of the theses and are available below.

Summary of Klein's Black Hole thesis - June 1985
Summary Martin's Contradictory thesis - August 2234

Obviously I must side with my namesake here. Martin's theory though interesting, and thought provoking, when it comes down to it is just a load of crap. Which is ironically what the rest of the world thought of Klein's when it was first published. [sigh] Such is life.

Kate was surprised how frank Klein was with regards his opinions of the theses. She never really considered him to be as protective of his ancestors as that. Perhaps it was this special bond he always talked of. How he felt like he Professor Klein was part of him, not only genetically but spiritually. She mentioned this to the rest of the crew, who listened interestedly.

'He said that the way he spoke, the professor that is, was so much like him; they looked the same; he even would have chosen his wife. Sounds a bit strange now I repeat it. But at the time he was so happy I couldn't be negative.'

'Anyway,' Lee said, 'shouldn't we be finding out more. Time is not finite.'

Unwillingly Kate agreed.
