The World State Research Foundation
This foundation was set up for the furtherment of and practical applicability of numerous scientific concepts. In itself it was two groups, Pure and Applied, with appropriate names of World State Research - Pure, and World State Research - Applied. These two were meant to work symbiotically, the one feeding from the other. But alas the Applied found more favour with the politicians. Consequently more money, support and facilities were available. To this day the Pure branch has only one space vessel, the W.S.R.V. Urania (World State Research Vessel), compared to Applied's five, W.S.R.V.'s Helios, Curie, Newton, Einstein and Bohr (the first, and original not fitting with the pattern, due to it constantly studying the Sun).
Despite these disagreements, the two manage to work reasonably closely, in fact the Applied section is 'lending' W.S.R.V. Curie to Pure, while Urania takes an extended mission to a black hole for further study, (Mission Black Arrow).
