Nora Elizabeth Jordan Dixon. Nora was born September 10, 1893 in Charley, Lawrence County, KY to Anderson Lewis and Mary Jane (Moore) Jordan. She married William Martin Dixon on August 13, 1911 in Lawrence County, KY. Nora died on August 15, 1934 in Catawba, Clark County, OH. She is buried in the Plumwood Cemetery in Plumwood, Madison County, OH. Note: Nora was not born with middle name, added later. The initial E. is on tombstone. Jesse James & Charlotta (Sparks) Caudill. Jesse James Caudill and his wife Charlotta "Lottie" Sparks Caudill. Jesse was born on December 16, 1857 and died June 24, 1894. Lottie was born May 4, 1868 and died September 25, 1910. Jesse was the son of Jeremiah Cordial and his wife Jane Holbrooks Cooksey Caudill. Jesse is one of those that discovered the spelling of the name was actually Caudill and convinced several brothers, cousins, and uncles to change it back. He was a school teacher and farmer. Moses Cordle. Moses Cordle was born on December 12, 1913. He was the son of Amos and Mary Elizabeth (Potter) Cordle. He married Berthie Mae Buckler. Moses died in 1988. This is a post card photo. Cecil Cordle & Mary Pack. Cecil Cordle was born on January 11, 1898 and died on June 28, 1978. He was the son of Amos Russell and Mary Elizabeth Cordle. He married Mary Pack. Mary died young giving birth to her son, Jess Cordle. Upon the death of Mary, Cecil gave baby Jess to his mother, Mary Elizabeth (Potter) Cordle to raise. Callie, Pearlie & Hattie Cordle. These are the daughters of Amos Russell and Mary Elizabeth (Potter) Cordle. Callie Cordle was born on May 25, 1904 and died in 1980. She married Troy Gire, who was born in 1896 and died in 1974. Pearlie was born on March 3, 1901 and died in 1981. She married Carl "Dump" Franklin Algeo, who was born in 1897 and died in 1977. Hattie was born on August 2, 1906. She first married Les Harrell and 2nd to Shell Helton, who was born in 1896 and died about 1956. Photo & information contributed by Lori Browning Booth.
Fred M. & Roberta (Dixon) Vinson. Frederick Moore Vinson, son of James and Virginia (Ferguson) Vinson, was born on 22 January 1890 in the Louisa jail (His father was the jailer!). Fred married Roberta Dixon, daughter of Robert P. and Marcella (Borders) Dixon (b. 25 Jan 1898, d. Nov 1983), on 24 January 1923. They had two sons, Frederick Moore Vinson, Jr. (b. 3 April 1925, d. 22 Nov 1982), and James Robert Vinson (b. 1 Sept 1929, d. 4 Oct 1978).
Fred graduated from Kentucky Normal College (in Louisa) in 1908 and from Centre College (in Danville) in 1909. He then studied two years at Centre Law School. In 1911, Fred began practicing law in Louisa. By 1915, he was Louisa's city attorney. In 1918, he entered the U .S. Army, as a private for service, in World War I. He was attending Officer Training School at Camp Pike AR., when the Armistice was declared.
Fred was elected Commonwealth Attorney, for the 32cd District of Kentucky, in 1921. He was a member of the U. S. House of Representatives from 1925 to 1928 and 1931 to 1938. In December 1937, President F. D. Roosevelt appointed Vinson to Associate Justice of the United States Circuit Court of Appeal, for the District of Columbia. In 1943, President Roosevelt appointed him as Director of Economic Stabilization. In 1945, President Roosevelt nominated Fred for Federal Loan Administration with the wholehearted approval of the House of Representatives and unanimous approval of the U.S. Senate. Less than a month later, Roosevelt named Vinson, War Mobilization and Reconversion Director, again with unanimous Senate approval.
President Harry S. Truman appointed Fred Vinson to The Secretary of the Treasury in July 1945, and he was again unanimously confirmed by the Senate. On June 6, 1946, President Truman nominated Vinson Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Two weeks later, the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed.
Chief Justice Vinson died on September 8, 1953 (Photo of Headstone). He is buried in the Pine Cemetery and was survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Photo & information contributed by Jeff Dixon.
Young Family Reunion. This photo is of the Young Family Reunion, no dates given, and no names listed. However, George W. Pack (b. 9-1-1845 d. 12-31-1929) & wife Emaline Young (b. 3-11-1850 d. 12-31-1928) are on the back row far right end. If you recognize any others in this photo please let me know. George W. Pack Family. This is the family of George W. Pack (b. 9-1-1845 d. 12-31-1929) & Emaline Young (b. 3-11-1850 d. 12-31-1928) ; no date on photo. Standing behind old George is Ida Pack (b. 5-1-1886) (who married James Garfield Hensley). No-one else in the picture has been identified. Do you recognize any of this family? John Rice & Mary Jane(Ramey) Hayes. This is Joyce (Burton) Wallace's grandparents. John Rice Hayes, 1867 ~ 1922, son of William and Margaret (Carter) Hayes, and grandson of Bazeal and Sarah Ann (Pack) Hayes and Mary Jane (Ramey) Hayes, 1874 ~ 1960, daughter of Henry Clay and Julia (Thompson) Ramey. On the right is the John Rice Hayes family. The baby on Mary Jane Ramey Hayes lap, is Joyce's mother, Dorothy Lee Hayes Burton. She was born in June 1908, so the picture had to be taken in the fall of 1908. The girl on the right, Martha died in 1909. Dennie Warren & Mary Emma (Ball) Burton. This is Joyce (Burton) Wallace's grandparents. Dennie Warren Burton, 1880 ~ 1948, son of George Greenville and Charlotte (Prince) Burton, 1882 ~ 1961, daughter of Elza and Florence (Berry) Ball. Greenville "Preacher Green" & Corinna (Cora Wheeler) Cordle. Greenville Cordle was born January 15, 1874 in Lawrence County, KY, and died January 12, 1947 in Wilbur, Lawrence County, KY. He was the son of John Michael Cordial/Cordle and Mary Moore. He married Corina "Cora Wheeler on August 27, 1894, daughter of Franklin Wheeler and Levisa Salyer. She was born November 28, 1879 in Winifred, Johnson County, KY, and died October 2, 1949 in Adams, Lawrence County, KY. . Photo contributed by Charlene Malone.

He married (1) FLORENCE (AUNT SWEET) BERRY March 2, 1865 in Louisa, Lawrence Co., KY. She was born March 22, 1846 in Lawrence Co., KY, and died July 9, 1907 in Adams, (Dry Ridge), Lawrence Co., KY.
