September 13-14, 1999, IIR's North American Summit Power Line Telecommunications, Scotsdale, AZ. They have planned a golf outing and the agenda places a particular emphasis on home networking. IIR's event was organized in conjunction with the International Power Line Forum, which according to Craig McCallister, the director of the home networking division Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and a HomeNET moderator, is an energy lobbyist group. EPRI on the other hand is the premier energy industry association with 700 company members worldwide. I am confident that I can convince Craig to conduct a half-day workshop on Power Line Home Networking.

September 28, 1999, Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA)'s fifth DTV Summit, Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, CA - to find out what it takes to be part of the DTV picture. (http://www.cemacity.org/dtvsummit/index.cfm) DTV Summit is held in conjunction with Digital Hollywood.

CONNECTIONS ’99: Enabling the Networked Home, was held May 12-14 in Vancouver, B.C. The conference attracted approximately 300 representatives from a variety of industries, including energy services, computer hardware and software development and manufacturing, telecommunications, wiring, home security, and cable. Although their event has passed, they are planning their fourth annual and have expressed some disgruntlement with us. In other words, they have an axe to grind.

December 14-17, 1999. CABLENET® '99 TO HOST NEARLY 90 TECHNOLOGY DEMOS AT CCTA'S WESTERN SHOW. CableLabs and the California Cable Television Association (CCTA) are co-sponsoring CableNET® '98 at CCTA's Western Show in Anaheim, December 1 - 4, 1998. This year, the theme of the CableNET® exhibit is "Plug and Play. " The CableNET® '98 exhibit, located in Hall D of the Anaheim Convention Center, will cover more than 8,000 square feet, and will host approximately 90 pedestals showcasing and demonstrating the technologies of nearly 60 participating companies, including interoperable cable modems, digital set-top boxes, and Internet phones.

E House was formerly known as "The Home Automation Show" and is sponsored by the Home Automation Association, which is basically the only organization we approached regarding a media partnership which declined to participate because they told us that they consider their event a competitor to ours. Moreover, they are particularly focused on making this event work because the conference production company, The Reed Group, they traditionally contracted with has exerted its contractual and trademarked rights and stolen the rug from underneath HAA, by taking The Home Automation Show & Conference and making it their own
