Reenlistments - A Marine must reenlist prior to midnight of the last day
of his/her current enlistment/extension. The reenlistment will be
effective on the date following the day of separation.

Extensions - Extensions of enlistment are executed in monthly increments
and are not approved for more than 23 months for each extension.
Marines cannot exceed 48 months of extensions on each enlistment contract
per Title 10 U.S.
Code, Section 509.

Lateral Movement - Although reclassification may occur and/or be requested
at any time in a Marine's career, as specified in MCO 1220.5 (Enlisted
Lateral Movement), lateral movement normally occurs no later than the first-term
reenlistment point.
