Malaysia Bible Seminari, an evangelical interdenominational seminary accredited by the Asia Theological Association, is founded in 1978. It is dedicated to the preparation of men and women for the manifold ministries of the Church through biblical and theological education, spiritual-personal formation and ministerial-professional development. In all its attempts to fulfill its goal, MBS strives for excellence under the authority of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God, the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
MBS believes that excellence in education is a Christian calling and is committed to the nurture of the whole man expressed through a philosophy of education that confesses the glory of God in all areas of life.
MBS accepts without reservation the revelation of God as given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

MASTER OF MINISTRY PROGRAMME (ENGLISH)

PURPOSE: To equip and train pastors and Christian leaders to be more effective in their respective Christian ministries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) The applicant must be a born-again and baptized Christian;
2) The applicant will preferably be a pastor or recognized leader of a church or anorganization;
3) The applicant must possess a Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) from a Bible College; or a Bachelor's degree from a university or any other equivalent qualification. Experience in Christian ministry is required.
REQUIREMENTS:

Ten three-credit courses and a project paper of equivalent to ten credits (total: 40 credits).
A. COURSE WORK : A total of ten three-credit courses from the following course offerings, with emphases on pastoral ministry, Chris-tian leadership and church growth:-
1) OT Exposition
2) NT Exposition
3) Pastoral Theology and Ministry
4) Creative Bible Interpretation (Guided Study)*
5) Church Planting and Growth
6) Pastoral Counselling and Care
7) Evangelism and The Local Church
8) Doing Christian Ministry in Context
9) Christian Education and The Local Church
10) Christian Spirituality (Guided Study) *
11) Sermon Development (Guided Study) *
Alternative courses or electives such as Christian Disciple-ship, Christian Education, Worship, Family Ministry, Mission Studies and other courses may also be offered.
* These three courses are guided studies with tutorials.

B. PROJECT PAPER: A project paper (about 50 pages), equivalent to 10 credit hours. This paper should be submitted within six months from the date of the last course attended, after which a continuation fee of RM50.00 will be charged half-yearly.

COURSE OFFERINGS

(NB: Other equivalent or alternative course may be offered.)

1. OLD TESTAMENT EXPOSITION
A study of the characteristics and themes of the Old Testament with an emphasis on the effective ways in studying the Old Testament. One or more books will be examined, giving attention to its form and content.

2. NEW TESTAMENT EXPOSITION
A study of the characteristics and themes of the New Testament, with an emphasis on effective ways in studying the New Testament. One or more books will be examined, giving attention to its form and content.

3. CHURCH GROWTH AND ADMINISTRATION
A study of biblical principles on church growth. Church growth models will be examined, especially their strengths and weaknesses, in order to assess the situation of a church, as well as to help to formulate effective strategies for church growth.

4. PASTORAL COUNSELLING AND CARE
A study of theological and biblical principles of counselling and their applications to various situations and problems in the church and contemporary society.

5. EVANGELISM AND THE LOCAL CHURCH
A study of biblical principles of evangelism with particular attention to the practice of evangelism in our context.

6. CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP
A study of biblical principles and models of Christian leadership with attention to leadership training and lay mobilization.

7. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR THE LOCAL CHURCH
A study of theological and biblical principles of Christian Education with attention to the organization and development of a educational programs for all age-groups in the church.

8. WORSHIP
A study of biblical theology of worship, noting especially the strengths and weaknesses of both the traditional and current worship service. Attention will be given to the preparation and leading of an effective worship service in the church.

9. FAMILY MINISTRY
A study of biblical principles of family with emphasis on contemporary family problems and various means to resolve them. Attention will be given to building a Christ-centered family.

10. CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY (Guided Study)
A reading course on Western and Oriental Christian Spirituality and holy living. Students are required to work out a personal and/or church spirituality plan.

11. SERMON DEVELOPMENT (Guided Study)
Reading on important works on preaching and collection of sermon materials. Students are required to prepare and deliver sermons during the session.

12. PASTORAL THEOLOGY AND MINISTRY
A study of biblical theology of Christian ministry and leader-ship, with emphasis on the mission and calling of church leaders. Various models of pastoral ministry will be discussed.

13. CREATIVE BIBLE INTERPRETATION (Guided Study)A study of the principles of bible interpretation with practical applications to the variou type of literature in the Bible.

14. DOING CHRISTIAN MINISTRY IN CONTEXT
A study of the global and national trends that affect Christian ministry in Malaysia, with the view of developing relevant minis-tries for the times.
