New DigiMon? New DigiMon?
Looks like what the Singapore kiddos thought was a DigiMon 6 & 7 is actually something called DigiMon P-1. The evolution is slightly different (1 fresh -> 1 in training -> 3 rookies -> 6 adults -> 3 ultimates -> 1 super ultimate). Some of the monsters appear to come from previous DigiMon versions, while others are completely new. I started asking around about the DigiMon P-1 to those people I have met online whose speak/read Japanese. One individual remembered seeing an article on DigiMon P-1 a few months ago, and says that the P in P-1 stands for pendulum and that if her memory serves her correctly, it is essentially a pedometer (a device that counts the number of steps you take when you walk). I've seen similar devices (Pocket Pikachu, Hello Kitty, Virtual Slime, Youkaiza) where the steps generate something equivilent to a treat that you then give as a gift to your v-pet, or the steps you take in real life move you v-pet along in it's v-world (kind of like a role playing game). At this time, I do not know if they fight each other of if they can fight the previous DM1 through DM5 version (and probably won't know until I get a pair of DM P-1's in my hand - which might not occur due to the approaching holidays, the weakening of the Japanese economy, and the waning interest in DigiMon in Japan).

HEY!!!! Are you interested in collecting DigiMon from Japan? Do you want to add some really interesting and different items to your virtual pet collection? Do you want to trade or purchase a Mothra, CaveMan, or GrandMa Tam? Do you yearn to partake in digital breeding by getting you hands on Love Chu or Pocket Love? If so, send an e-mail to Amy Lawrence at . She just got 5 boxes of v-pets from a gonzo collector in Japan containing some interesting, some rare, and some obscure items - including all 6 Japanese DigiMon I colors, all 4 Japanese DigiMon II colors, all 4 Japanese DigiMon III colors, and both Japanese DigiMon IV colors (sorry, no Japanese DigiMon V).

All images used here are the property of Bandai and are used without soliciting their permission.

Note: I am NOT an employee of Bandai. I am just an avid follower of this toy phenomenon that is DIGIMON. I got my Japanese DigiMon I, DigiMon II, and DigiMon III by trading with some individuals in the US with a contact in Japan.

Bandai released to the Japanese public, the Digital Monster I in June, 1997, Digital Monster II in December, 1997, and Digital Monster III in March, 1998. Bandai released to the American public, the DigiMon in December, 1997 and we anticipated a June, 1998 release of DigiMon II - but it never happened (in the U.S., it appears to have occurred in Hong Kong and Singapore though).

As the story goes, Digital Monsters were first discovered as computer viruses in the Monolithic Mainframe that kept sucking up data and bugs. Over time, they kept getting smaller and smaller until they became what we see here today.
To the Digital Monsters, food, medicine, poop, etc. are just computer programs.
