Correct Installation of Child Car Seats

Did you know that child safety seats are buckled incorrectly 98% of the time? That can lead to serious injury or death! Because our children are so precious to us, we always want to give them the best. Wouldn't you agree that LIFE is the best? This is how to help save your child's life:
  1. The Buckle - The buckle located on the safety harness on the child's seat should be positioned evenly with your child's armpits. If the buckle's location is too low, your child could slide out of his or her seat and be ejected out of the car.
  2. The Safety Harness -The safety harness that holds your child in his seat should be just loose enough to slide one adult finger between the belt and your child. If the harness is too loose, on impact, your child could be thrown forward enough to slam his head into the seat in front of him. This too can result in serious injury or death.
  3. The Seat Belt - The seat belt should be tight enough that your child's seat can be moved only one or two inches from front to back, and from side to side. Some car seat belts are designed in such a way that special products must be bought to ensure that your child's seat fits properly. Checking with your car dealer and/or manufacturer should give you the information you need for that. The manufacturer of the child seat would also give you valuable information as well; Especially since not all car seats come with instructions for proper installation (mine didn't).

  • Use poison labels (homemade ones work well too) on all potentially hazardous materials.
  • Wash out empty containers and dispose of in an outdoor trash bin.
  • If the label is bright and/or colorful, cover it up. But, don't cover up any warnings or instructions.
  • Store safe products and hazardous products seperately.
  • Don't put kerosene in a milk jug, etc.. Your child knows what food containers look like.
  • Don't leave hazards where your child can get them -- even for a second.
  • Rid your home of all poisonous plants if possible, if not possible, label it, and put it where your child can't get to it. Make sure the leaves, etc., can't fall into a place easily obtainable by your child.
  • Have the number to your poison control center close to the phone at all times.

Love our children, don't abuse them!

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate. ...Psalm 127:3
