Coleoptera

Beetles & Weevils

There are 300,000 different kinds of beetles. That's right, 300,000! They are by far the most common type of animal of any kind on earth.

Insects in the Coleoptera order have hard fore wings, and thin hind wings. Their wings make a straight line down their backs.

Their mouths help them eat a varied diet which may include plants, animals and dung.

Their young are larvae, or grubs.
