La`au `Elima....Number Five Plant

Ti, Ki, or Lauki

Perhaps of Polynesian introduction to the
Hawaiian islands, Ti was used for famine food,
rope, sandals, thick clothing, and is famous
for being the source of the Hawaiian brandy known
as `Okolehao. It is found widespread throughout
Hawaii at lower elevations, prefering moist locations.
Spiritually, Ti is an embodiment of the deity Lono
who serves as a positive icon for peace, agriculture,
and healing ceremonies.
