Hawaiian Mistletoe
Korthalsella latissima
Several species in the Mistletoe Family, Loranthaceae, are
found native to Hawaii. They grow as parasites on native hardwoods.
These photos were taken from atop an `Akolea (native Myrsine) behind
Paliku Cabin in Haleakala Crater on Maui. Hawaiians named the
mistletoe: "Kaumahana", warm perch, or "Hulu-Moa", chicken feathers.
