Raised in the Fifties during the cold war in Huntington, on James Bond, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones; he began playing guitar in the middle-Seventies in NYC during the punk period. Shilling has played with Sonic Youth and cohorts in the NoWave scene in downtown Manhattan during the Reagan years. Shilling considers his major influences to be Bill Frisell, Mark Ribot, and Brian Eno. Music is his creative outlet; it should, in his terms, "feel good." |
