"Here, put these on," Jordan said, handing her a pair of headphones. You will want to wear them over both ears while we are recording the music. When it comes time to record the vocals, you may want to wear them with one ear covered and one ear not.

"Why is that?" Parker asked inquisitively.

"The music will come only through the headset. Some people findit hard to hear themselves clearly with the music playing. It will have to be up to you, though. Watever you find most comfortable."

With that, Jordan left the booth and she saw him sit down at the controls. She could see Susan messing with the camera and getting the tripod set up and she could see Pete talking with Jordan. All of a sudden, she heard Jordan's voice coming through the headset. His voice was soft and comforting, somewhat calming her nerves. "Whenever you are ready, let me know and I will signal you when we are recording."

Parker looked at him and gave him the "thumbs up" letting him know she was ready. As her fingers danced over the keys, she hummed the melody softly to herself so that she would play the song in the right order. She looked up quickly and saw Susan with the video camera and Jordan smiling encouraginly at her. It took her several full run-throughs and lots of starting and stopping in the middle of the song for her to get it just perfect.

"Let's break for lunch," Jordans's voice came through the headset. "Rose has gotten the Caffeine Free Diet Dr. Pepper and we can get something else to go with it."

Parker took off the headset, set it on the keyboard, and turned off her keyboard. She walked around the instrument and went out the door into the control booth.

"We're going to order lunch. Where do you want us to order it from?" Pete asked the girls.

"Mr. Goodscents is fine. It's pretty close, too," Parker answered him.

"Yeah, Mr. Goodscents is fine," Susan echoed her cousin.

"After lunch, we'll start on the vocals," Pete told Parker.

"Sounds great."

"How do you feel about how this morning went?"

"I think it went o.k., I was getting a little frustrated with myself there for a minute. I kept hitting extra keys."

"That happens when you start getting excited," Jordan said with a chuckle.

"Or nervous," Parker confessed.

"Oh, there's no reason to be nervous," Jordan told her. "What you recorded this morning sounded great!"

"Well, thank you," Parker replied, a hint of pride in her voice.

"What do you want for lunch? I'm going to call it in and have Rose go pick it up," Pete said. He was holding a pen posed over a piece of paper ready to take the order.

Parker looked at Susan and said, "Well, we both get about the same thing, half of a turkey on wheat. I like pickles and mayonnaise. Susan likes pickles, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes."

"O.K., that's easy enough," Pete said as he took down Jordan's order and started out of the room. "Oh, how about chips?"

"B-B-Que Baked Lays," the girls answered in unison with a laugh.

"I'll have that, too," Jordan told Pete.

"I'll get cookies for everyone too," Pete told them. "Chocolate chip, o.k.?"

The three of them nodded.

Jordan led the girls into the green room. There were several round tables at the far end of the rectangular shaped room. The area closest to the door had a living room type set up. There was a sofa, a loveseat and two chairs plus a coffee table and two lamps. The sofa, loveseat, and chairs were gray and extremely fluffy. Parker plopped down onto the sofa and laid her head on the arm. It was extremely comfortable and she was tempted to go to sleep. After a minute, she sat up and looked at the rest of the room.

At the end of the room that had the tables, there was also a refrigerator, coffee maker, a bottled water dispenser and two mircrowaves.

"Some people like to bring stuff to eat instead of going out," Jordan said following her gaze to the microwaves.

"That would make sense," Parker replied.

PPete walked into the green room carrying their food. he took the sandwiches, chips and cookies out fo the bag and set them out at each person's place. "Lunch is served," he said with the flair of a waiter at a five-star restaurant.

The quickly ate their lunches and went back to recording. Parker warmed up her voice with some exercises that her voice teacher in high school had taught her, and they began.

It seemed link only a matter of minutes, but four hours later, they finished up the last note. "Wow, it sounds great! What did you do?" Parker laughed.

"It wasnt' us, silly. We weren't the ones singing," Jordan threw back his head and laughed.

"Jordan and I will do the master mising tomorrow afternoon after church. Would you like to come for that?" Pete asked Parker.

"Of course," Parker told him. "What time?"

"Let's say 2:00. Is that o.k.?"

"Sure."

"I'm going to leave my keyboard here until tomorrow, is that o.k.?"

"Of course. We may need it to fix things tomoorow. I don't expect to have to, but better to be safe than sorry," Pete said winking at her.

Parker and Susan gathered up the video equipment, grabbed their things and walked out the front door with Jordan and Pete close behind.

"Parker, you did very well today<" Pete told her. "I can't wait to do the next song."

"It will be ready next weekend," Parker promised him.

"There's also something else I want to talk to you about tomorrow."

"You're not even going to give me a hint?" Parker chided him.

"Nope, not even a small one," Pete said with a wink. "I'll let you know tomorrow. Have a good evening."

"We will. You too."

"Bye," Jordan called after them.

"Bye, Jordan," the girls hollered back.

Parker and Susan loaded their video equipment in the Toyota and got in the car. "I'm tired, but kind of wound up. Do you want to go to a movie or something?<"

"Sure. Let's go see that new Brendan Fraiser one, you know, 'Blast From The Past'."

"Great!" But we're stopping for food on the way. I'm starving."

"Me too," Susan responded and both girls burst into laughter.
