Born 02 February 1902, Audubon, Iowa, the son of Jasper Northup and ELIZABETH QUINN . Died 05 November 1967, Sidney, Nebraska. There are two lines of thought about when George was born. His children say he was actually born on 02 February 1902 despite the fact that all his records show he was born 02 February 1900. The story goes this way. He ran away from home at age 15, lied about his age, and joined the Navy. His Father got him out of the Navy but he then ran away again and joined the Army. His birth certificate was issued on 03 October 1961 and says he was born 02 February 1900. The documents he used at that time to prove his age were his military record dated May 28, 1918 and his marriage record dated March 2, 1921. His gravestone says 1900. Wife: DOROTHY MARIE (MONK), born 12 November 1902, Kansas, died 21 April 1970, Sidney, Nebraska, age 67. Daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Richard) & Albert Percy Monk. Children: GEORGE ALBERT, born 11 May 1922, Denver, CO, married Margaret Ruth Domescheck on 26 February 1943. ROBERT WAYNE, born 23 November 1924, Denver, CO, married Shio Saeki on 13 February 1954. DOROTHY MARIE, born 23 September 1926, married James Gordon Gay on 01 January 1947. JAMES RICHARD, born 27 February 1938, Las Anamis, CO, married Mae Colwell on 18 October 1958. HARRY EVERETT, born 02 September 1940, Amarillo, TX, married (1) Rita Solomon; married (2) Holly Kay Johnson Prado. George Everett Northup was born February 2, 1900 or 1902. His mother died when he was 10 years old. He was in the Army and the Navy. He spent a year in France during WWI as a bugler. He also spent three years working in the Medical Department at Fitzsimons General Hospital, Denver, Colorado. George drove a bus at one time. In 1930, George and Marie and their three children, George, Bob and Dorothy lived in LaJunta, CO, where George leased Flacks Candy Company on 6th Street. (George Albert said it was a General Cigar Company and that he worked for Mrs. McGurd). The family was doing well financially and purchased a pool hall. In 1933, the family moved to Ft. Lyon, CO, where George had a job as a male attendant at the Veterans Hospital. George Albert entered the 6th grade, Bob the 4th, and Dorothy the 2nd grade. Jim was born there on February 27, 1938. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas in August, 1940. George Everett worked at the Veterans Hospital and Harry was born in Amarillo on September 2, 1940. The family moved to California in 1941. They were not there very long and then moved to Denver, Colorado. In 1942, they moved to Las Animas, CO. By this time, George Albert had graduated from High School and joined the Navy. Bob did not move to Amarillo or California with the family. Bob and George A. graduated from Bent County High School in 1942 and 1940. MARIE (MONK) NORTHUP was an accountant at Lewis Department Store in Denver, CO, before her marriage to George. When they moved to Las Animas in 1942 they worked at the Army Depot in LaJunta, CO. In September 1943 the family, except for George A. and Bob, moved to Denver, CO. In the fall of 1944, they moved to Mountain Home, Idaho and in 1946 moved to Hastings, Nebraska. They moved to Sidney, Nebraska. George Everett worked at the Army Depot and Marie was Post mistress in the Housing Project. Jim and Harry graduated from Sidney High School. George and Marie are buried in the cemetery at Sidney, Nebraska.
