Harris Northup was born July 15, 1793 in Deerfield, Oneida Co., NY, the son of Remington, Sr. and Amy (Knowles) Northup He was married to Lydia Spencer (b: Abt. 1790 in Cheshire, Berkshire Co., MA d: November 27, 1828 in Deerfield, Oneida Co., NY).
He married a second time to Jane Ann Gray (b: March 12, 1806 d: September 1882 in Brooklyn, NY) They had one final child.
He died August 15, 1849 in Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY.
Most info shows that William and Remington had changed the name from Northup to Northrup after they moved to Oneida Co, NY. It appears that, for this line at least, the spelling changed to Northrop when Harris and family migrated to Brooklyn and probably after Harris died in 1849. The cemetery records for Harris show his surname spelled Northrup and for Jane Ann Gray it is spelled "Northrop."
