Flowers

October 15, 1998

It could be that red rose
with those soft petals I see
It's just as perfect as the next
yet not quite perfect for me
Those thorns that prick turn me
away in search of something more gentle

It could be that pretty, pink carnation
with those specks of white I see
It's just as perfect as the next
yet not quite perfect for me
The color pink is so innocent
I need something a little less pure

It could be that happy, yellow dandelion
with many tiny petals I see
It's just as perfect as the next
yet not quite perfect for me
The constantly joyous color and shape
lack the depth and insight I've been searching for

It could be that tall, white lily
with its slender shape I see
It's just as perfect as the next
yet not quite perfect for me
The air of elegance that surrounds it
makes me feel that I cannot compare...

...But I think it's that questionable wildflower
with the different colors and personality I see
It's not as perfect as the rest
but perfectly perfect for me...
