YEAR	EVENT
1947	In September of 1947, a Category 5 Hurricane struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Post was badly damaged as were nearly all the structures along the coastline.
1960	Level 1 Hurricane Ethel made landfall very near Gulfport, and did some minor damage to the Post, mainly wind, tree limbs, and water leaking through the roof.
1969	The Post Home was destroyed by Hurricane Camille near midnight on August 17-18, 1969 and a new Post Home was constructed at it's present location.
1985	The Post Home was damaged by Level 3 Hurricane Elena which made landfall just west of the Post. Damage was wind driven debris, tree and roof damage.
1997	On July 18th, Hurricane Danny was due south of, and headed toward Gulfport, but veered eastward and struck Mobile, AL. Wind and water damage to the Post.
1998	During the daylight hours of September 28th, 1998...the Post Home received minor damage when Hurricane Georges stalled for 5 hours over the Gulf Coast.
2004	Level 5 Hurricane Ivan at one point was headed for landfall near Gulfport, but it turned eastward and made landfall on Gulf Shores near Mobile, Alabama.
2004	An automobile on Courthouse Road swerved off the road, and severely damaged the northeast corner of the building. It was stopped by the Post's steel flag pole.
2005	Hurricane Katrina completely destroyed the Post Home and Bingo Hall. Pictures of the destruction are now at Hurricane Katrina And The Mississippi Gulf Coast
