Chapter 7 
	Lucy woke up the next morning to the sound of a
 heavy door squeeking open.  
Mary tip toed past the bathroom and into the little kitchen 
part and grabbed a banana.  
“Where have you been?” Lucy asked still laying down. she
 looked at the clock it was 
9:30 wich was really only 7:30 to them. ‘I really need to get
 used to this time zone’ she 
thought.  
“The Gym” Mary stated non-chalantly. Lucy’s sister was obsessed 
with working out. “It’s 
really nice Russ you should check it out” Mary said more like an
 order then a suggestion. 
Russ let out a pro longed groan as if he was trying to say 
something but was to tierd. 
Mary assumed it was some excused why not to go. Russ didnt
 like working out he was 
ome what on the scrawny side but he gets his buffness from being 
on the swim team. 
“Alrighty Russ I’ll wake ya up at 8:00 2morrow morning” Said Mary
 B 4 taking a bite of 
her banana. 
“Ugh” He groaned agian. 
“Hey Lucy!” Said Mary “Guess what today is?”  
“Oh yeah I totaly forgot” She said sitting up 
“Happy 12 Lucy your last year b 4 being a teenager.”Said 
Mary 
“Yeah happy birthday Luce” Russ congradulated as he was getting
 up and heading for the 
bathroom. 
“So what do you want to do for your birthday?” Mary asked her
 “Dont be in there to long 
Russ” Shouted Mary in the other direction “ I need a shower”
 she continued as she heard 
the shower turn on. 
“He wont be out for another hour ya know” Lucy told her 
“Yeah no kidding” 
“Hmmmmm” Lucy thought aloud “Im not really sure what I want to
 do. I dont really 
know what kind of places or things there are to do here.” “Yeah well
 i’ll tell you what we would do if we hadnt of come here.” Said Mary “We 
would take a bus down to the Seattle center. We would ride on 
all
 the rides and eat all the 
cotten candy we could till we puked. then we would take the monerale to the mall and 
shop till we drop...” 
“Yeah with you that would be like 20 mins.” Lucy interupted 
“Hey im not finished yet. Then we would walk to the sience center 
and play around with 
all the stuff until we got kicked out. Then we would see a laser 
show and go to the arcade 
and all in all have the best time of our lives...but NO we had to 
come to hickville.” 
“Trust me Mary we will have a time here that we will never 4
 get.” 
“Some how I find that hard to belive” Said Mary. Lucy shook her 
head and said 
“Well we will”  
“Maybe we could ask at the front desk what kind of fun stuff there
 is to do around here.” 
Mary suggested. 
“Ok” Said Lucy “Lets go”. The girls grabbed their key and 
headed down stairs.  
“Excuse me?” Mary asked the woman at the front desk 
“Yes?” she said 
“We were just wondering if you could recomend any fun places to 
go to. We arnt from 
around here” 
“Well....”Began the lady “Like tourist attractions?” she asked 
“Well sort of. Its my sisters birthday and we dont really know of
 the malls or amousment 
parks or places like that.” 
“Oh I see. Well here are some pamphlets” Said the woman 
reaching under the desk and 
taking out 3 paphlets 
“Oh this is great thank you very much.” Mary said excepting
 them. 
“Any time and have a good birthday” 
“Thank you” Said Lucy. The girls headed back up to there room 
Lucy arrived in the room 
a bit sooner then Mary did, and saw Russ out of the shower
 and shaving in front of the 
mirror. 
“Russ!” she exclaimed sarcasticly “You shaving! Thats a
 first”  
“Ha ha very funny, sassy” Mary walked through the door 
way 
“FINNALY” she said getting her shampoo and soap and stuff 
and heading into the 
bathroom to take a shower. 
“Hey Russ we got these pamphlettes, I guess they are sorta like
 tourist stuff but some of it 
might be fun.” Lucy said looking through them. 
“Tourism is Oklahoma?” Russ replied. Lucy just shruged 
“Hey theres this festivle going on, summerfest, that looks pretty
 fun” Lucy said handing it 
to him and pointing. 
“Yeah, sure, I guess.” Lucy got ready and Russ listened to 
some music, unitl Mary got 
out.Her showers were much shorter then the ones Russ took.
 Mary got dressed and came 
out.  
“So do we know where we wanna go?” She asked. Lucy showed
 her. And they headed 
downstairs for breakfast and then they took off.

Lucas had no idea what to do. He had considered going to
 Mercades for help, but decided 
he could never. She would just remind him of it everytime she 
needed help. Which was 
vurtullay never. So she would just be constantly bragging about
 it. ‘How I came to her for 
help because she always knows what to do’ Lucas thought
 imatating her. He decided he 
would go back to the shuttle he got off of. Thats was when he
 first noticed it was gone. 
Lucas got on and checked all the seats and under everything. 
People were looking at him strangly. Mainly because he 
was being weird but also because he was dressed in all black.
 Black jeans black t-shirt 
and a black leather jaket. Not that this was all that strange.
 But considering it was 
scorching hot out side, they thought that that was a little weird. 
He finnaly came to a 
conclusion tha it wasnt on the shuttle and sat down, lokoing out 
the wondow. Just then 
somthing cought his eye. Lucas has very good eyesight. He took
 out his mini bionoculars 
just to check. And he was right. A girl who looked about 12 or 11 
had the ring! Around 
her neck on a chain.She had long sandy blonde hair and was
 wearing white jean shorts 
and a purple tank top. Lucas decided it would be best to memorize
 her incase he lost her.  
“HA HA” Lucas laphed quite loudly out loud in joy. Now people 
were really begining to 
stare.  
“STOP THE BUS!” Lucas exclaimed. The driver was hesitent 
but considering he had 
been reciving complaints from other passengers he let the man 
off. 
Lucas dashed off the bus. He looked around for the girl in the croud 
of dozens of people 
but she was no where to be seen. 
“Damn!” he exclaimed to him self in frustration. He had to find
 that girl.His life 
depended on it. Not only his life but Joe’s life. Lucas knew that 
Joe was a dangerous man 
but he frequently had doubts Joe would ever do n e thing to hurt
 him. Joe took Lucas in 
from the street, and Lucas is to this day to every thing in his power 
to repay Joe. He 
would get that ring. Luke is normally an all around good guy but
 you dont want to get in 
his way because he wont stop at anything. Even if it involves 
breaking the law(**authors 
note** ok that sounded really corny but im simply trying to get it
 under the impresion 
that Lucas would kill or hurt or torture the person if he doesnt get 
what he wants) 
	Lucy, Mary, and Russ walked along the some what 
busy side walk in the hot 
summer weather.  
“God Im hot” said Mary 
“Yeah” agreed Lucy “I sure could go for that swim right about 
now” 
“Hey I read in the brochure that theres a small little lake only about 
a mile from here. 
Wanna ditch the fest and go for a dip?” Suggested Russ. 
“I dunno” Lucy debated. “I was kinda looking forward to it” 
“Well we can always come later after the swim” Mary said. She was 
on Russ’s side. 
“Well ok” Lucy said giving in. They arrived at the Lake about 10 or 
15 minutes later. 
There were a few kids playing in the sand and not very many 
people swimming maybe 
about 3 or 4. Russ took his shirt off and looked around. He saw
 a fallen tree that 
camepretty high just over the lake he grinnd and ran up to 
it. 
“C’mon you guys” He shouted from on top.  
“Russ your crazy im not going up there” Mary said. 
“Oh C’mon! Chickens!” Russ continued to plead. Lucy smiled she
 took off her neclace 
and set it under a near by tree. She ran towords the log. 
“Thats my sassy girl!” said Russ Mary wasn’t the one to be left out
 of things and since 
she had already waded in until most of her Sonics jersey was wet
 she went up and joind 
them. 
“Ok now all hold hands and dont let go” said Russ as the girls 
nodded “1-2-3” they all 
jumped and splashed into the water. Lucy came up for air
 lauphing. She was having a 
great time with her brother and sister. They usually got along 
pretty well, but for some 
reason she had a feeling it was to good to last.
