Welcome to my Kinison Lineage Page. The Surname of Kinison has many various spellings; Kinnison, Kennison, etc. As with my Clinkenbeard lineage, this is a newer line for me. It wasn't until I received my DNA results from Ancestry that it came into play, but I will not go into specifics. I am starting this page off with Nathaniel Kinison until I can work my way back further, as generation or two seems a little spotty. You will notice that I have the word tentative after a name. This is due to the fact that I cannot prove their lineage to a certain individual. The basis I use is name and location to others within that certain area. Descendants of Nathaniel Kinison*Nathaniel Kinison was born on 03 Jan 1798/9 in New Hampshire (Note Census records state both Vermont or New Hampshire, his Army enlistment state he was born in New Hampshire), the son of Samuel Kennison, Jr. of New Hampshire. Nathaniel was listed in the U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments in 1829; he being 30 years of age, 5' 9", blue eyes, brown hair. He married Sarah Cashman Penock. Sarah was born on 25 Jun 1806, Norwich, Windsor Co., Vermont, the daughter of Zelah Penock and Lydia Howard. Nathaniel was listed in the U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments in 1829; being 30 years of age, 5' 9", blue eyes, brown hair. Their family was listed in the 1840 DeKalb, St. Lawrence Co., New York Census with 1 m -5, 1 m 30-39, 1 f -5, 1 f 30-39, the 1850 MaComb, St. Lawrence Co., New York Census, and the 1860 Otoe Co., Nebraska Territory Census records. I could not find a death date for Nathaniel, however, there was a Nathaniel that died on 03 Nov 1867 and buried in Prairie du Sac Cemetery, Prairie du Sac, Sauk Co., Wisconsin (findagrave). Could this be him? Sarah died in Mar 1896 and is buried in the Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue, Sarpy Co., Nebraska (findagrave). Their children were: 1. Walden Kinison, b: 29 Apr 1836, DeKalb, St Lawrence Co., New York. He married Sara Jane Blazzard. Sarah b: 14 Oct 1848, Missouri, the daughter of John Bleazard/Blazzard and Mary J. Hill. Their family was listed in the 1870 Randolph, Rich Co., Utah Territory Census records. Walden d: 03 Mar 1872, Utah. Sarah married secondly to Randolph Stewart. Sarah d: 12 Mar 1922 and is buried in the Grand Valley Cemetery, Moab, Grand Co., Utah. Children: Isaac Melvin Kinison. a. Irene Emmaline Kinison, b: 22 Sep 1867, Salt Lake City, UT. She married three times. She married first to James Henry Luster, second to Charles Backrack/Berry, and lastly George F. Powell. Emmaline d: 16 Jul 1956, and is buried in Grand Valley, Moab, Grand Co., UT (findagrave). Children: Lavina, Loa Bathsheba, James Henry, Myrtle, Luster, Carl W., Austin J., Liza, Clyde, Minnie A, Hazel G. Berry, George Thomas Powell. b. Orin Kinison, b: 10 Nov 1869, UT. She married Joseph Phillip Miller in 1892, Grand Co., UT. Joseph b: 03 Oct 1870, Alleghany Co., Pennsylvania. Alice d: 07 Jul 1948 and Joseph 27 Apr 1929. They are buried in the Grand Valley Cemetery, Moab, Grand Co., UT (findagrave). Children: Rhea A., Maude S. , Mary A., Beulah, Joseph, Margaret R., Ralph Joaquin Miller.2. Lydia Kinison, b: 1837, St. Lawrence Co., New York. She married Gardner Powers. Gardner was born ca 1810, Vermont, the son of George Powers and Deborah Howard. Their family was listed in the 1860 Lyons, Mills Co., Iowa Census records. Lydia died before the 1870 Census was taken. Gardner died 06 Mar 1889, in Arkansas. Children:a. Brazil Powers, b: 19 Aug 1865, Council Bluffs, Pottawatamie Co., IA. He married first to Matilda Mahurin and secondly to Elizabeth Ida Britt on 11 May 1894, Benton Co., AR. Elizabeth b: 11 May 1876. Their family was listed in the 1880 Eight Mile Grove, Cass Co., Nebraska Census. Mary died in 1888. Abraham was listed in the1900, and 1910 Cass Co., Nebraska Census records. died on 28 Jun 1910. Charles b: 30 Sep 1899, Stenkjer, NOR, the son of Michael Utvick and Linna Craming. Perilda d: 24 Oct 1973 and Charles d: 24 Aug 1974, both in Alameda Co., CA. Children: Edward Laverne, Norma Jeane, Robert Keith Utvick. Jessie married secondly to Charles Otis Fiscus on 12 Sep 1906, Woodbury Co., Iowa. Charles was born in 24 Sep 1877 in Onawa, Monona Co., Iowa, the son of Randolph Fiscus and Marintha Donnelly. Headrick on 20 Dec 1903, Havelok, Nebraska. Volney was born 26 Jan 1878, Waverly, Lancaster Co., Nebraska, the son of James B. and Emma Headrick. Their family was listed in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 Havelock, Lancaster Co., Nebraska Census records. Their children were: a. Forrest Leroy Headrick, b: 04 May 1906, Havelock, Lancaster Co., NE. Matilda was born on 16 Feb 1879, Manteno, Kanakee Co., Illinois, the daughter of Napolean Bonaparte Bourelle and Matila Couture. Their family was listed in the 1900 Greenwood, Cass Co., Nebraska Census, the 1910 Omaha, Thurston Co., Nebraska Census, the 1920 Covington, Dakota Co., Nebraska, and the 1930 Winebago, Thurston Co., Nebraska Census records. Generation ***************** *Sadie Louis Kinison was born on 19 Jun 1900, Greenwood, Cass Co., Nebraska. She married Levi Edward Clinkenbeard. Levi was born on 24 Oct 1894, Mondamin, Harrison Co., Iowa, the son of Ezekial Fillmore Clinkenbeard and Minnie Henrietta Miller. Their family was listed in the 1920 Covington, Dakota Co., Nebraska Census. They later divorced. Their children were: 1. Clifford Fillmore Clinkenbeard , born on 23 May 1917, Nebraska. Clifford died on 14 Feb 1989, and is buried in the Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury Co., Iowa. 2. Glen Howard Clinkenbeard , born on 10 Nov 1920, So. Sioux City, Dakota Co., Nebraska.
