Race Across New Zealand
by SpiderBraids And we return for the final result of the first race, as Otto has somehow managed to negotitate the final sharp hairpin (despite refusing to slam on his brakes, mind you) and come in first. Dude, it's not just a first place for Colin Lite here (yes, more The Amazing Race references, and enough with the [BOMPs] already), but the whole team's in first place. This calls for, yep, woogies. Sheesh. Anyways, Otto's happy, Ray's happy, everyone's happy, time to head back to camp, then. OK, Reggie's not happy. "It seems the only win Raymundo's interested in is Otto's," she complains. And yes, this will become a giant monkey on her back later on. Hmmm... hope that comment didn't just scare Twister [RP, "Otto's Big Break"]... Over to the McGills and predictable exchanges ensue: daddy's throwing a wobbly, and son is promising to give it heaps next race. Dad sez: "McGills have always done whatever it takes to be a winner." Nightfall, dad's stealing the Rockets' axle bolts, and loosens those on Otto's skateboard thingy. Figures. Besides, now that he has a loose bolt on his board and a loose screw in his head, you can tell things are bound to get ugly for Mini-Colin. Morning on a bus, and interminable (as far as Reggie is concerned) exposition on Otto's race-winning hairpin turn ensues among the teammates. Here comes an interruption, in the form of Twister The Ditz panicking over being on the wrong side of the road. First he's confused about time zones, seasons, and now directions: "So people here think right is left and left is right?" "(sighs) Yeah, that's what they think." "Man, I didn't know living Down Under made you act all backwards." Definitely not The Amazing Race material there... And straight from the horse's mouth (or maybe donkey's mouth), Mini-Colin's giving his own account of the hairpin to dad and Tito. Chester drops by for some minor exposition. In a nutshell, winning the first race didn't help Ray in the end, so why should it help Otto now? Tito sez: "The village of a chief who won't forget the past may as well forget about their future." Viewer sez: "The son of a father who doesn't get the message from Tito's sayings deserves to go ballistic someday," as Ray is telling Otto to "to forget about that turn and think about the next race." Geeze. What, Nick got more junk to sell already? |
