Disney's Animal Kingdom Africa: Harambe Village, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Pangani Forest, Conservation Station

Disney's Animal Kingdom - Africa: Harambe village

From Asia, proceeding counter-clockwise, take the pathway along the river to Africa, or from Safari Village, go to the left of the Tree of Life and cross the bridge to Africa.

You've entered Harambe village

The Harambe entry village has several eateries: coffee shop & bakery - fresh baked goods, cappuccino & latte; ice cream; cocktails - yes, the Sundowner Terrace is a full bar!

The Tusker House Restaurant with its spit roasted prime rib, rotisserie chicken, salads and breakfasts:

It also has several shops, African merchandise themed, and a fresh fruit market just before the Kilimanjaro Safari and the train to Conservation Station. Get your provisions here - there aren't any oasis on the Safari ride. While we're on the subject, try a Safari Amber beer - it's microbrewed for Animal Kingdom and very good. Even better, it's available throughout Animal Kingdom. If wine is your preference, DAK serves South African wines.

You'll notice that Harambe looks like it's been there for a century, with peeling paint, worn benches, etc:

The thatched roofs that you see are authentic, using African craftsmen to build them.

In late summer, with the Florida heat, water areas were installed to help provide some relief:

Even the trash cans are logo'd:

We're going to divide our tour into three sections:
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail
Conservation Station

So let's head first for the Kilimanjaro Safaris:
