Subsystems Notes: The Stingfire hardsuit is the brainchild of Dr. Alicia Fairchild of the Gizmonic Institute. Dr. Fairchild independently was working on the same technology as Dr. Katsuhito Stingray and, when Dr. Stingray finished his Cyberdroid before she finished hers, she turned her talents to improving the massive and unwieldy power suits of the time.

In 2029, GENOM had Dr. Fairchild quietly assassinated. Unknown to them, her sixteen-year-old daughter, Sandra, was watching from the next room as an assassin boomer, disguised as her colleague, Dr. James Cochrane, entered the room, made small talk with Dr. Fairchild, had a cup of tea with her, and then calmly crushed the back of her skull and walked out of the room. The next person to enter the house was the real Dr. Cochrane, who saw his dead colleague and swore revenge on her killers. After reassuring Sandra as to what had actually happened, the two began to plan their vengeance. Cochrane finished Dr. Fairchild's research, and the Stingfire was the result.

The Fire-series hardsuits (Sandra's Stingfire, Joe's Wildfire, Vincent's Crossfire and Bill's St. Elmo's Fire) are distinguished by having specific-use battlegloves that can be swapped out for different, mission specific gloves. Sandra prefers the Type 4 (Commando Assault) battleglove, with its S-Mine rack and railgun.
