Dave Ornauer's, Stripes Sports Editor, prediction for the Dragons' third match up with the Yongsan Raiders:

"A chance to make three straight for the Raiders over the Dragons team that owned them the previous four seasons. And one incentive for the Raiders as they plan a late November trip to Okinawa: staying unbeaten."

Raiders 32, Dragons 18

Three Times a Halloween Charm

by John Price, Photojournalist

The day was windy, clouds hanging omnisciently low over the field like a bad omen, and the Yongsan Dragons appeared unfazed by the appearance of the malevolent black uniforms of the Yongsan Raiders. It was Halloween, it was time to play football. And that’s just what the Raiders did in route to their 7th straighter victory as they defeated the Dragons 28-8 at Lombardo Field.

This third victory over the Dragons gives the Raiders a series sweep over their archrivals.

The Raiders drew first blood on their second possession of the game with a 6 yard touchdown run by Willie Combs. A 2-point conversation pass by Eric Collins gave the Raiders a 8-0 lead.

Just as quick as the Raiders scored, the Dragons led by QB Andy Niewierowsici hit Jerry Robinson for a 47-yard pass. A quarterback sneak for the 2-point conversation tied the game at 8-8. It was as close as the Dragons would come.

Starting in place of the injured Chester Boyles, Niewierowsici proved his mettle by moving around in the pocket and even taking off downfield for several yards. However, in the fourth quarter a concussion took Niewrierowsici out of the game. His replacement, Jerry Robinson, proved just as elusive also gaining several yards on quarterback keepers. And just to give everyone a chance to play quarterback, running back Ricky Coleman took one snap from center after Robinson had to be helped off the field after an injury timeout.

In the second quarter, the Dragons surprised everyone at Lombardo Field with a bit of trickery as they faked a punt to convert a fourth and 25 play. Unfortunately, a bad snap from center and numerous penalties, which plagued the Dragons (2-5) all afternoon, moved them back to where they started before the fake punt.

From there the momentum belonged to the Raiders.

Another 6 yard run by Willie Combs in the third quarter, and a fourth quarter 10-yard touchdown pass from Ed Keane to Jeff Violette sealed the Raiders’ (7-0) victory.

Next for the Dragons will be the winless Osan Cougars, while the Raiders will try to maintain their perfect season by taking on the Taegu Warriors.
