Raiders Shuts Down, and Out, Warriors; Osan Forfeits
John Price, Photojournalist
It was suppose to be the Homecoming games for both the Yongsan
Dragons and Raiders. Unfortunately, onlt the Raiders got a chance
to play as the Osan Cougars, early Saturday morning, announced their
forfeiture for the game. With that call the Dragons' losing streak
effectively came to an end; officially, the score for the Dragons'
game was 2-0. Later that morning, the Yongsan Raiders took the field
against the Taegu Warriors with the hopes of not ending theirs.
The Raiders came out firing and quickly built an 18-0 lead after
the first quarter. A quarterback sneak from the one-yard line by
Eric Collins gave the Raiders a 26-0 halftime lead.
Even with such a lead, and relying on their passing attack, lead by
QB David Lipski, the Warriors from Taegu were not ready to call it
quits.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, with less than fives into the half,
Collins threw a short touchdown pass to pull the Raiders (6-0) ahead
for good, 32-0. With the 32-point lead over the Warriors (4-2), the
'Fast Clock' rule came into effect, thus piling on the additional
pressure fro a Warriors' victory that would not come.
After the game, after the congratulatory 50-yard handshakes from the
opposing teams, Raiders head coach Enrique Blanco enjoyed the
traditional Gaterade bath from his players.
