It was during my photo exhibit that an instructor for the University of Maryland, B.J. Gleason, that came up with an idea to get the pictures onto a CD-ROM with explanations of each the shots. The project is on hold, but the following pages will show the highlights and some historical facts of this island in the Gulf of Naples.

The Island of Ischia

"Looking out to Sea"

This was essentially the first photograph of my trip to Ischia. This guy was on the same hydrofoil to the Island from Naples. The trip from Naples to Ischia was advertised as one hour and thirty minutes, but only took 30 minutes. Good thing because I was getting a little queezy.

"Connection"

A lot of people have asked how long was I on the beach to get this shot... To tell the truth it wasn't even planned. I was walking on the beach heading toward San Angelo when I noticed I walked into its shadow. I took a couple of backsteps and there it was. The picture was originally a color shot, but in this case black and white was much better.

"Sunset over Citara"

This was a set-up shot. I had the tripod set on a concrete wall just waiting for the moment the sun would peak from the clouds. I missed a couple of good ones when some kids came along and ended up playing around with a soccer ball.

"Crashing Casamiccola"

I was actually trying to get a shot of a jelly fish in this one. The funny thing about this shot was when I got the print, I was looking at it upside down. You just had the feeling that something was wrong with the picture.

"On to Mount Epomeo"

It was close to the end of my vacation when I finally got the opportunity to make my trek to Mount Epomeo. Unfortunately, when I reached the peak (there's a steel pole there) I had run out of film.
