It's amazing how the towns have the same names of cities in Europe... There's Strasburg at the northern section of the county, and right in the middle, south of Woodstock is Edinburg... Of course, the spellings are off, but still.

I first came to Edinburg practically without much choice. I was looking for a place to live, and after looking at the apartments in Woodstock... Won't go into that, but I knew I didn't want to have a long drive to the office and there was an apartment complex there called Rose Hill. Although it wasn't anything better than those apartments in Woodstock, there was a vacancy.

During the year, the small town of Edinburg has three major events to celebrate its rich history in the Valley.

According to the town's website there are:

1. Edinburg Spring Fling during the first weekend in June.
2. Edinburg Ole' Time Festival during the third weekend in September.
3. Christmas in Edinburg during the first weekend in December.

I remember during the 'Ole Time Festival, a politican, who shall remain nameless, came up to Heather and me while we were relaxing on the bench outside of the store. He introduced himself, what office he was running for, and then asked us if we were enjoying our stay in town... Guess he didn't know I worked for the newspaper, and that Heather's been here her entire life.... Needless to say, I didn't vote for him.

Welcome to Edinburg
