Dead or Alive?
.
A sudden death, was
dispatched to Pam Ruschke and Bill Pake,
Ambulance and Firemen,
worked to make the victim wake.
An overdose of heroin,
nothing they could do,
Track marks on her body,
were easily on view.
.
Everything examined,
suspicions on the rise,
Ident called to photograph,
the place of her demise.
A Supervisor also called,
Acting Sergeant me,
We all decided, at that
time, the coroner should see.
.
She was called to come
to us, and examine the deceased,
To make sure all suspicion,
could therein be released.
Major Crime Detectives,
Chris Fielding and Rick Crook,
Arrived to add their
expertise, they quickly took a look.
.
We all agreed an overdose,
was the apparent cause of doom,
The coroner would soon
be there, to join us in the room.
Sherryl Yeager, Coroner,
arrived there right on time,
To offer an opinion,
made a statement so sublime.
.
As she bent down o'er
the body, she soon made these remarks,
She's been using for
a long time, to have such bad track marks.
"It's amazing she
is still alive", the statement that she said,
Caused a roar of laughter
from us all, except the one quite dead.
.
Pam pointed out succinctly,
"I'm afraid you missed the point",
Of why you've joined
our party, in this tiny little joint.
Sherryl Yeager, realized
then, exactly what she'd said,
When last we saw her
heading out, her face eight shades of red.
