Constable Cliff Lister
.
I need to say some words
here, about the passing of a friend,
Time passes by so quickly,
why does it have to end.
Deep inside I know that,
the years keep marching on,
We are here for such
a short time, before our time is gone.
.
Cliff Lister was the
nicest man, you would ever want to know,
He always had a kind
word, and was always on the go.
A dog man several years
ago, one of the very best,
When he was on a dog
case, he never stopped to rest.
.
When the news was broken
to us, we greeted it with shock,
Cliff was far to young
to go, was the word in all the talk.
Twenty two years on
the job, under fifty years of age,
Life can treat us so
unfair, it makes you want to rage.
.
Cliff left us far too
early, that I know is true,
But he left us doing
something, that I know he loved to do.
He was out there on
the golf course, playing just for fun,
When suddenly the sands
of time, had no more left to run.
.
The shock set in so
quickly, it has not worn off yet,
I know he was the kind
of guy, that no-one will forget.
Each and every one of
us, has a specific memory,
Of the man we knew as
"Cliffy", a special person he.
.
And when his cohorts
gather, the storytelling then,
Each will say of "Cliffy",
"Hey, I remember when..."
He did this, or he did
that, or he went the extra mile,
I know that he'll be
watching us, and I'm sure that he will smile.
