Report Writing Primer
.

Special Squads now calling, they need some kind of aid,

A criminal they caught on view, a report must now be made.

Patrol work is our mandate, they do not carry pen,

Reports will not be taken, 'till they are in Patrol agin.
.

So now this little primer, to jog their memory,

Of the days they were in uniform, Policemen all, you see?

The pen a mighty instrument, more powerful than sword,

Crooks can all be put away, with the power of the word.
.

Well, ok, not quite put away, they must appear in court,

A crapshoot at the best of times, a place of writ and tort.

Patrolmen are out taking calls, barely getting by,

With call loads running rampant, from call to call we fly.
.

Crown Counsel, and Invest Reports, Form Nineteen's and more,

Patrolmen each must write them, I'm sure you know the score.

I know you guys in Special Squads, keep busy on your own,

But you also have the luxury, to work one case all alone.
.

So when you call a unit, to come and write your case,

We tend to get quite testy, when it's thrown in our face.

Remember your assignment, one day it just will stop,

Back to Patrol you all will go, a uniform street cop.
.

Take note of our motto, borrowed from an outdoor sport,

And follow with its message, so write your own report.

What is our little saying? It's words are mighty few,

If you go and catch 'em, you get to clean 'em too!
