The Divine Steve Shaw
.
The shift began routinely, as many of them do,
Steve Shaw and Darren Foster, still new to District Two.
They went to see a victim, had just arrived on scene,
There that fickle finger of fate, began to intervene.
.
They gathered up equipment, got set to leave the car,
Very shortly our young Steven, would soon become a star.
He opened up the drivers door, began to clamber out,
Dimly hearing something, which sounded like a shout.
.
With a crash, the door was torn, from his outstretched hand,
While several feet beyond him, he saw the body land.
A crumpled bike was lying there, imbedded in his door.
While Steve observed the body, pick itself up off the floor.
.
The man straightened out his helmet, dusted off his gear,
He walked on back, to where Steven stood, Darren standing near.
When Steve saw the collar, on the shirt of Pastor Lee,
He stood waiting for the thunderbolt, to drive him to his knee.
.
But it seems the kindly Pastor, uninjured in the crash,
Was more concerned with Steven, whose face was white as ash.
Young Steve was still expecting. Intervention from on high,
His soul would soon be burning, his life went flashing by.
.
Pastor Lee remained concerned, with Steve in such a muddle,
He sprinkled him with water, from a nearby muddy puddle.
And before our shaken hero, could turn around to leave,
We dubbed him with a nickname, just call him Father Steve.
