Latte Man

.

David Bruce-Thomas, working Kilo Eighty Four,

Had just secured a caffeine fix, from the coffee store.

The night had been eventful, code three runs abound,

He recently had tracked a crook, who somewhere went to ground.

.

Such is the life of members, working pooch patrol,

Race across the city, and back again they roll.

Things got very quiet, he was parked somewhere out west,

A grande latte in his lap, his partner was at rest.

.

When suddenly it happened, the alarm began to ring,

Dog car needed way out east, time to do his thing.

He flipped on all his strobe lights, started up the car,

Siren wailing out its song, he had to go quite far.

.

The dog was getting wound up, howling while he paced,

Thinking up his strategy, while across the town he raced.

It soon became apparent, that the coffee had to go,

To keep it sitting upright, he had to go too slow.

.

He picked it up so carefully, took one careful sip,

Launched the cup out to his left, he just made a tiny slip.

The cup struck glass, the lid came off, coffee sprayed around,

Drenching car and driver, his howls matched siren sound.

.

He made it to the call ok, the paper cup was drained,

Smelling like a latte, his uniform was stained.

Now a tip for David, as he drives around our town,

Before you throw out coffee, roll your window down!
